Illustration
Kristie has been drawing
and painting since she was a kid. She won several awards
in school for her tempera paintings and pottery, and a Blue
Ribbon in the Dyer County Fair for her oil painting of old-time
Dyersburg , TN. Her style ranges from realistic to silly,
and love of the silly stuff brought her to children’s
book illustration. She dabbles in many mediums, but her favorites
are colored pencil, oil paints, and regular ol’ graphite
pencil.
Her mixed-media (acrylic, ink, and colored pencil) illustrations
can be seen on a unique website,
ImagiTales.com, in the stories My
Very Own Potty, My Body, and Nature
Things.
Writing
The writing bug was always there;
early grade school book reports usually rewrote the whole
story. Numerous short stories and essays later that were “just
for fun” led
to pursuing the dream of combining the joy of writing and drawing
into children’s books, and she soon joined the SCBWI.
Kristie’s first book, The Cat
with Too Many Names,
was inspired by the goofy, lengthy, real name of
her father’s childhood cat, and is currently seeking
a publisher.
Kristie lives, draws, and writes from her home near Nashville,
TN , which she shares with her husband, two ornery dogs,
and a one-legged cockatiel.
