Sarah S. Brannen spent several years as a painter, architectural illustrator, and classical singer, but all she ever wanted to do was to write and illustrate children's books.

Sarah's first picture book, Uncle Bobby's Wedding, will be published by G. P. Putnam's Sons in March, 2008, and she illustrated The ABC Book of American Homes for Charlesbridge Publishing, due out in July 2008. She also illustrated "What I Did With My Coin Collection," by Tiger Woods, published as part of Thanks and Giving: All Year Long by Simon & Schuster in 2004. She is a regular contributor to AppleSeeds and Skating Magazines, and she covers figure skating for US Figure Skating and Ice Network.

Sarah was recently awarded the 2007 Ann Barrow Scholarship from the New England chapter of the Socitey of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She was awarded the runner-up 2006 SCBWI Work-in-Progress Grant for a biography of figure skater Johnny Weir. She was also the runner-up for the 2003 Don Freeman Memorial Grant-in-Aid.
